Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The team omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
