The athlete achieved her personal best of one minute 54.61 seconds last year in London.

Keely Hodgkinson concluded her two-lap season with a win at the women-only Athlos event in New York on Friday night.

{The reigning Olympic gold medallist, who earned third place at the World Championships recently, dominated an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a year affected by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and world silver medallist Georgia Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua Maloney (1:58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was likely easier for me to compete and be motivated to perform," stated Hodgkinson.

"The atmosphere at the event is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event filled the stadium in its second year, bringing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The 23-times tennis major winner Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis Ohanian, was present to present the victors with their tiaras.

Previous champions received sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - one of the largest prize purses in track and field.

The event also attracted some of the sport's biggest names, as the Kenyan triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith K. won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
